The difference between PVC board and PP board

Many people mistake PP board and PVC board, but these two boards are made of different materials, and the effect is also different. In the plastic board industry, PVC board and PP board have always been better developed. Many customers don't know the difference between the two types of plates, so they don't know how to choose them when they use them. Let's find out what is the difference between the two types of plates.

PVC board is a kind of vacuum blister film, which is made of PVC as raw material and has a honeycomb mesh structure in cross section. It is used for the surface packaging of various panels, so it is also called decorative film and adhesive film, which is used in many industries such as building materials, packaging, and medicine.

The heat-resistant stability of PVC sheet is very poor. It starts to soften at 80 degrees and differentiates at 130 degrees, and releases HCL gas. PVC is not as electrically insulating as PP, and is usually suitable for medium and low voltage and low frequency insulation materials. PVC is resistant to most inorganic acids, alkalis, salts, and most organic solvents.

PP board, also known as polypropylene (PP) board (PP pure board, modified PP board, reinforced PP board, PP welding rod), is a semi-crystalline material. It is harder than PE and has a higher melting point. Since homopolymer PP is very brittle when the temperature is higher than 0°C, many commercial PP materials are random copolymers with 1 to 4% ethylene or clamp copolymers with higher ethylene content.

PP board is odorless, non-toxic, tasteless and conforms to the national health standards. It has a low density and is a lighter kind of general plastics. It can be boiled in water and steam sterilized at 120 degrees. It can be used for a long time at a temperature of 100 degrees without deformation. Together with electrical insulation properties and chemical stability, it hardly absorbs water and has no effect when touched with most chemicals. PP is resistant to corrosion, acid and alkali, etc. The disadvantage is that it has poor low-temperature impact resistance and is easier to age, but it can be overcome by modification and the addition of antioxidants.
